Common Entrance Exam for Central Universities 2022
The government has suggested that a Central Universities Common Entrance Test (CUCET) be conducted for the 54 Central Universities and institutions from the academic session 2022-2023, in a move that might be a game-changer for higher education in India. Many people may be surprised to learn that a plan to reduce the strain of higher cut-offs in most prestigious central institutions has been in the works for quite some time. However, the Common Entrance Test was made possible by the National Education Policy (NEP), which intends to introduce dramatic reforms to the country’s educational system.
There are now 54 Central Universities in India that are part of the CUCET institutions, including the University of Delhi (DU), Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), Banaras Hindu University (BHU), and others. While the announcement may have stunned the average person, many are unaware that a Common Entrance Test has already been developed for the 13 newly founded Central Universities across several states.
While the present CUCET is held once a year in an offline format, the National Testing Agency plans to hold the new Central Universities Common Entrance Test in an online format (NTA). For the academic year 2022-2023, the exam will be administered just once, but in later years, it will be administered twice a year, allowing students the opportunity to improve their results if necessary.
Universities that will be a part of CUCET in 2022
Candidates are recommended to review the qualifying criteria required by a particular participating university for a preferred Program before applying for CU-CET 2021. Details about the programs, eligibility criteria, and program structure may be found on the websites of the participating universities.
For their particular programs, admissions are handled at the level of each of the participating Central Universities (CUs). Following NTA’s announcement of the CUCET 2022 result, the different CUs will announce the counseling/admission schedule and merit list based on the weighted average of the CUCET 2022 score and other CU criteria. For participating CUs, there will be online and offline admission counseling.
